Everyman's commitment to the community extends to its interest in the not for profit sector. Everyman has recently acted on projects in the medical sciences and education sectors. The team was involved on a pro bono basis with the launch of a community-owned shop and café in a Cotswold village to replace the existing shop and café which closed in 2007.
An industrial and provident society was formed and in a 4 month period £80,000 raised in donations, grants and loans. The Blockley Co-operative Association has over 500 villagers as members. James Hunt, one of the Everyman founders, is Company Secretary and legal adviser to the Co-operative.
The story of the rescue of the shop recently featured in an article in the Guardian newspaper and on Sky News.
